For one measured in food and recreation, measured in effort at work, and measured in sleep and wakefulness, yoga becomes the destroyer of suffering.
Original King of Dwarka translationReflection inspired by Bhagavad Gita 6.17
A practice must live inside an actual day, with meals, work, rest and sleep. The verse gives these ordinary rhythms a place in spiritual life. Enough can be a discipline of its own, especially when we have learned to mistake exhaustion for commitment.
Source & context
Krishna has just rejected both excess and deprivation in eating and sleep. He describes moderation as a support for yoga. The claim about the ending of suffering belongs to that spiritual discipline, not to a medical promise about lifestyle.
