Transliteration
apyuddhava tvayā brahma sakhe samavadhāritamapi te vigato mohaḥ śokaścāsau manobhavaḥ
Uddhava, my friend, have you fully understood this knowledge of the Absolute? Have your confusion and that sorrow born in the mind passed away?
Original King of Dwarka translationReflection inspired by Srimad Bhagavatam 11.29.29
A long teaching returns to the person who has heard it. Krishna asks his friend a question, and the story still leaves room for tears at parting.
Source & context
Krishna asks his friend about the understanding reached through their conversation. Uddhava’s later tears show that insight is not the absence of affection or the pain of parting.
