Without hatred for any being, friendly and compassionate, free from possessiveness and ego, equal in suffering and happiness, and patient.
Original King of Dwarka translationReflection inspired by Bhagavad Gita 12.13
Kindness becomes demanding when affection is absent or pride has been wounded. The qualities gathered here belong together: compassion, patience, less possessiveness, less insistence on the self. Devotion takes a recognisable form in the way another being is treated.
