Bhagavad Gita 7.8

Krishna to Arjuna
रसोऽहमप्सु कौन्तेय प्रभास्मि शशिसूर्ययोः ।प्रणवः सर्ववेदेषु शब्दः खे पौरुषं नृषु ॥ ८ ॥
Transliteration
raso’hamapsu kaunteya prabhāsmi śaśisūryayoḥpraṇavaḥ sarvavedeṣu śabdaḥ khe pauruṣaṃ nṛṣu

I am the taste in water, son of Kunti, and the radiance of moon and sun; the sacred syllable Om in all the Vedas, sound in space, and human vigour.

Original King of Dwarka translation

Reflection inspired by Bhagavad Gita 7.8

A drink of water is easily passed over on the way to something more important. Krishna places divine presence within that familiar taste, as well as light and sound. Attention can begin close at hand, before the search for an extraordinary experience.

Source & context

Krishna begins naming ways his presence can be recognised in the world. Pauruṣa is rendered human vigour; it also carries the sense of manliness or human capacity. These are divine self-descriptions within the dialogue.
