One whose mind is untroubled in suffering, who does not crave pleasure, and who is free from attachment, fear, and anger is called a contemplative of settled understanding.
Original King of Dwarka translationReflection inspired by Bhagavad Gita 2.56
Composure can be a mask, or it can grow from a different relationship with desire and fear. The steadiness described here does not need an audience. Its measure is what no longer takes command of us when circumstances become difficult.
Source & context
Arjuna has asked how a person of settled understanding speaks, sits and moves. Krishna begins a portrait of freedom from craving, fear and anger, rather than outward displays of composure.
